Carlisle City have been thwarted again by the weather – even after receiving help from neighbours Penrith.
They were due to play their Brooks Mileson League Cup tie with Boldon last night and as Gillford Park was unplayable they arranged with Penrith to play on Penrith’s artificial surface at Frenchfield.
But overnight snow on the pitch, along with icy conditions in the surrounding area, added up to an unsafe situation and the game was postponed.
It’s the second time City have been denied a crack at Boldon in the competition because of the weather.
The City game was among five League Cup-ties postponed last night while two scheduled games – one in Division One and the other Division Two were also off.
City are due back in action on Friday night at home to West Auckland and will be looking for a change in weather conditions.
Kendal Town have a big game scheduled for Saturday at Parkside Road against second in the table while Penrith are at home to Newcastle Blue Star, but all in the lap of the weather gods at the moment.
