The weather has ended prospects of Carlisle City getting back into Northern League action tonight.
Their scheduled game at home to West Auckland was called off this morning as the pitch was declared unplayable after an inspection.
Manager Dan Kirkup said: “I’m afraid it’s solid. Really we needed it on as we don’t have a fixture next weekend for some reason so it’s going to be a month between games.”
Even their efforts to play the mid-week Brooks Mileson League Cup-tie at Penrith were thwarted as the overnight snow made the Frenchfield pitch and surrounding area unsafe.
Big game in the Northern League sees Kendal Town host second-in-the-table Shildon and there’s a question mark over the Parkside Road pitch.
“We want it on but there will be an inspection this afternoon and then, if required, another in the morning but it’s that time of year I’m afraid and the weather dictates,” said chairman Michael O’Neill.
Penrith have a home game scheduled against Newcastle Blue Star and like all other Northern League fixtures this weekend will be the subject of a pitch inspection.
Blue Star are 13th in Division One, just one place and two points behind Penrith with a game in hand.
