
Champions Maryport Athletic have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Cumberland County League’s Premier Division.
Close rivals Unisun Athletic were not playing at the weekend while Maryport beat Whitehaven Miners Social 3-1 at Milltoft.
But Unison now have three games in hand over the leaders while the pair still have to meet home and away in the League.
Ashton Skillen (2) and Darren Rule scored for Maryport with Nathan Walkingshaw replying for the Miners. All the goals came in the first-half.
Aspatria scored only their second win of the season when they beat hosts Keswick 4-2, and in doping so leap-frogged their opponents on goal difference.
Richard Hudson (2), Andrew Trestianu and an own goal made up the Aspatria tally qhile Luke Mason and Stephen Moss replied for Keswick.
The third game in the Premier Division was the tightest of all with Workington Juniors just claiming the points after a 2-1 win over Mirehouse.
Michael Kilgour and Chad Grisdale scored for Workington with Callum Wilson netting for Mirehouse.
There were also three games in Division One with Dearham closing to within a point of Northbank who weren’t playing.
The villagers were 3-1 winners at Unisun Athletic Development as first-half goals from Jsck Brown (2) and Danny Dryden sealed the points. Davey Nelson scored for the hosts as Dearham are now a point Northbank but with two games in hand.
Whitehaven reserves had a 5-0 win at bottom side Carlisle City Development, who are still seeking their first point.
Shaun Carter, Robbie Watson, Joe Martin, Taylor Kilgour and Cody Meagan scored for the west Cumbrians.
Most goals were scored at Silloth where the home team beat Windscale reserves 5-3 to continue their climb up the table.
Ewan Trestianu (2), Bradley Williamson, Philip Scott and Jackson Slack netted for Silloth with Luke Elliot (2) and Bobby Fitzpatrick replying for Windscale.
