
Sun Inn A made the short visit to bottom of the Aspatria Pool League table Letters B in an attempt to reverse the only defeat they have suffered so far this season.
But on this occasion the Letters players couldn’t repeat their heroics from the first fixture and the current league leaders left with an emphatic 9-0 win.
Currently tied at the top of the league are Sun Inn B, who played host to Cumberland A and got off to a flying start with wins from Ben Scott, Dan Long and Gary Miller for a 3-0 lead.
In-form Willie Graham pulled one back for the Cumberland, but Dave Edwards then won the next frame for Sun to put them in a strong position at 4-1.
Mark Hodgson, making his debut, pulled it back again winning for the Cumberland, and then Geoff Davies and Dave Eland won the first double to reduce the deficit to 4-3.
In the end, though, the Sun Inn were too strong and took the last two doubles to win the match 6-3.
Miners A entertained Letters A with Phil Curtis getting the visitors off to a good start by winning the first frame.
But that’s where the match changed and the Miners A team won the next four frames to put them in a strong position at 4-1 ahead.
James Rumney pulled one back for the Letters, but Paul Cuthell – second win of the night – and Darryl Creighton took the first double to win the match for Miners A.
Letters A made the score respectable winning the last two doubles but lost the match 5-4. Rumney won both his frames for the Letters.

Cumberland B took on Miners B in their Silloth venue but Chris Hird got the visitors off to a good start winning the first frame.
Then Ian Tyrer and Steve Whitehead put the Cumberland 2-1 up with some solid pool, before Pete Mortimer levelled the match.
Adam Hocking put the Cumberland back in front at 3-2, then the experienced Mark Pearson clinched the last singles for the Miners to level the match at 3-3.
Cumberland then took the points, winning two of the three doubles, to take the match 5-4.
The Bowling Club took on Throstle B in the all-Wigton clash and wins from Brady Bell Steve Farish and Mark Jones got the Bowlers off to a great start to lead 3-1.
Then George Twentyman and Ryan Nicholson won the next two frames for the Throstle to level the match at 3-3.
Steven Graham and Ryan Nicholson took the first double to give the Throstle team a narrow lead, but the Bowling Club team weren’t finished and Bell and Caden Corrigan drew the match level.
After a tight last frame, it was Declan Harrison and Twentyman who managed to pot the final black and give the Throstle B the win.
In another Wigton derby League chasing Throstle A played host to the town’s rugby club, and in a dominant performance they won the first five frames to take the points.
Only Steven Rumney had a reply for the Rugby Club team, and Throstle A went on to win the first two doubles – Ian Johnston, John Mackenzie, David Barton and David Prescott with their second wins of the night.
Wigton Rugby Club took the last double thanks to Luke Marshall-Dowell and Steven Rumney, but Throstle ended with a comfortable 7-2 win.
