
In the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League promotion chasers Workington Golf Club maintained their form with a composed 3–2 victory at top-tier title chasers United Club A.
Simon Frazer set the tone early for the visitors, controlling the scoring phases against Mark Suitor and pulling clear at the business end to secure a 61–40 opener.
In the next, Bryan Walker proved the steadier in the key exchanges to take the frame with a 55–36 victory over Darryl Walters and edge the Golf Club 2–0 ahead.
With the match threatening to drift away, Dave Chapman steadied the United A ship in frame three as he dictated the tactical tempo against Mark Cowan, capitalising on some fine safety play to build a commanding lead before closing it out 58–32 to claw one back.
Clive Lister fought hard in a tense fourth frame, but Mark Brasted’s class showed at the critical moments. A couple of timely scoring visits swung momentum the visitor’s way as Brasted held firm for a 59–38 win to secure the match victory at 3-1.
United A captain Andrew Mitchelhill ensured there would be no collapse, producing a polished 64–26 victory over Lewis Tilley in the final frame to end the match just one adrift at 3-2.
The result keeps Golf Club firmly in Division Two contention on 28 points in fourth place, and even though the United Club A side were defeated they still remain second in Division One on 41 points just two behind leaders Station Road Club.
In the following match, Whitehaven’s Rack Shack delivered one of their most convincing performances of the campaign with a commanding 4–1 win for the Division Two outfit over Division One’s Workington Veterans Club.
Chris McKelvey got the Shack off to a flying start with a confident display to dispatch Mark Tunstall 69–43.

The Veterans hit back in style through Kevin Basnett, who reminded everyone of his pedigree with a break of 61 in a clinical 81–13 victory over Adam Morilla.
From there, Rack Shack took complete control. Lee Dougherty was ruthless against Paul Johnston, cruising to a one-sided 58–15 win to restore the home lead at 2-1 and Neil Dougherty followed up with a composed 63–32 victory, dictating both safety and scoring to move the Rack Shack into an unassailable 3-1 lead.
Phil Denvir galvanised the home win in the fifth frame, keeping Mark Tatton at arm’s length to seal a solid 55–37 success and complete a statement 4–1 team victory.
The win sees the Rack Shack second in Division Two on 29 points with the Vets Club in last place in Division One on 32 points.
Division Two contenders United Club B produced a resilient away display to edge Division One’s Workington Conservative Club 3–2 in a tightly fought encounter.
United B’s Richard Kirkham opened proceedings by grinding out a low-scoring 35–2 win over Alan Moore.

Stephen Harrison then doubled the lead with a nerveless 42–40 victory over Julian Plaza in one of the frames of the night.
David Holland then pulled one back for Cons, crafting a steady 53–20 win over Shane Tallentire for 2-1.
Cons’ Ryan Barker levelled the match in frame four with a 43-24 win over United B captain, Stephen Jackson to set up a last frame decider.
In the fifth frame of the evening, Adam Sowden showed great composure under pressure, pulling away from Brian Kendall to secure a 58–21 victory and seal a hard-earned 3–2 triumph for United B.
The United Club B lead Division Two on 31 points with Workington Cons third in Division One on 36 points.
Finally, Division Two’s Maryport Social made full use of their home advantage with a convincing 4–1 victory over fellow second tier side Workington Legion.
Ryan Ismay opened with authority, dominating Legion’s George Burdon in a comfortable 37–5 success.
Andrew Sharp followed this up with a black ball 40–29 win over Simon Tootle in frame two to put the Maryport outfit in to a 2-0 lead.

In the next the final ball was again to decide, as Andrew Skidmore made it 3–0 in a competitive frame holding off Adam Hodgson 45–38 to ensure Social took the match win.
Stuart Shepherd then produced the most convincing performance of the night in the next as he confidently despatched Jordan Ferguson 72–29 to move it on to 4-0.
Legion did manage to salvage a point however in the final frame of the match as Dan Hallam defeated Andrew Scott 59–44 to end at 4-1.
Maryport Social sit third in Division Two on 28 points while Workington Legion are two places lower on 12 points.
