Several incidents of anti-social behaviour by young people in Carlisle city centre prompted police to issue a dispersal order.
Carlisle police said the order was authorised last night, Saturday February 21.
It said the anti-social behaviour incidents involved large groups of youths.
It added: “Officers spoke with a number of young people and dispersed them from the area, with one taken home safely.
“Over the coming days, officers will be working alongside schools and partner agencies to identify those involved and help prevent further incidents.
“We ask parents and carers to support this work by ensuring they know where their children are in the evenings, who they are with, and what they are doing. Working together helps keep our city centre safe for everyone.”
Today, Sunday February 22, officers from Carlisle’s Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted foot patrols to enhance visibility and provide reassurance to the community.
Carlisle police added: “Several members of the public have approached our officers to express their concerns, and we have addressed these matters appropriately.
“We remain committed to maintaining a strong visible presence in the area, and we will address any issues with the utmost diligence.”
