
It was honours even in the quarter finals of the Sunday County Cup – with two wins apiece from east and west.
Northside and Lowca Pirates led the charge for the west of the county with Denton Holme and Morton West ensuring the east also had two representatives in the semi-final.
A first-half goal from Josh Hoggarth proved to be enough for Northside to beat Scotby in a really hard-fought contest.
There was another cracker at Lowca where the Pirates edged out Northbank 1970 3-2 – with all the goals coming in the first-half. Aaron Wynd, Owen Woodburn and Travis Fyfe scored for the Pirates.
Northbank’s goals came from Jake Nicholson and Thomas Atkinson.
There was another tight affair at Wakefield Road where Deer Orchard were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Denton Holme after a goal-less first-half.
Luke Graham scored for Orchard but it wasn’t enough as the Carlisle side shaded a closely contested second-half with goals from Kian Makar and Ellis Pearson.
Most emphatic winners were Morton West who overcame the challenge of The Sun 5-2. Dan Hill scored both for the west Cumbrians.
Henry Walker (3) and Daniel Wilkinson (2) saw the Carlisle side safely through to the semi-finals.
In the West Cumberland Sunday League there were two fixtures in the League Cup and two in Division One.
Senhouse Street Club, the Division One leaders were emphatic winners 8-2 against Maryport Amateurs in their League Cup group with goals from Brad Newall (3), James Shaw (2), Jack Reid, Gregg Quayle and Leon Wharrier. Maryport replied through Luke McKnight and Aaron Ross.
Zebras were 3-1 winners at Swan in their League Cup-tie as Josh Patterson (2) and Dan Little found the net. The Swan consolation was an own goal.
In Division One Mirehouse Juniors were 3-1 winners over the Royal Oak to move second in the table. Ryan Taylor (2) and Cyran Corlett netted the goals with Blake Hardy responding.
The other Division One game finished 3-1, with Workington Falcons beating Sun Inn Athletic.
Liam Holder, Matty Watson and an own goal made up the Falcons tally with Brad Williamson notching for the Athletic.
