Carlisle Library will close from next Monday for the final stage of its £3.3 million revamp.
Expected to reopen in mid-June, contractors will move in to reconfigure Level 2 of the facility.
Teams will be installing new fixtures and fittings, moving stock, and completing remaining infrastructure improvements across the building, following significant progress already achieved on levels 1 and 3.
It will be completely closed until Monday March 30.
From Monday March 30 until mid-June:
- Limited temporary reception service will open on Level 3, providing hearing aid batteries, parking discs, Blue Badge forms, bus pass services and book requests and returns.
- Levels 1 and 2 of Carlisle Library will be closed to the public entirely.
- Browsing, printing, scanning, photocopying and PC access unavailable.
The project is funded by the Government’s Carlisle Town Deal with additional investment from Cumberland Council.
The authority said it would deliver a modern, accessible and welcoming library space for all.
A phased reopening of the library will begin in mid-June, the council said.
