An event will be held to mark World Curlew Day on April 21.
Melbreak Curlew Recovery will hold a street collection from 1.30pm to 4pm in Keswick town centre, to help raise funds and further vital curlew conservation work.
The group is combining with Wild Chorus community choir to host a Singing Picnic at the Braithwaite Institute near Keswick, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Wild Chorus will be singing and showcasing the world premiere of a new curlew song, specially written and composed for the occasion by Dave Camlin, who leads the choir.
There will be curlew videos and displays, curlew cards and badges for sale and people are encouraged to bring along any curlew artwork and curlew poems to celebrate this much- loved bird.
All are welcome and admission is by donation. Please bring your own picnic, enjoy the event and help celebrate all things curlew.
A free exhibition featuring A Year in the Life of a Curlew and the important work of the Melbreak Curlew Recovery Project, is currently running in the Community Gallery at Keswick Museum until April 30.
Melbreak Curlew Recovery Project is part of Melbreak Wildlife Group, an initiative of The Melbreak Communities and supported by FiPL (Farming in Protected Landscapes).
