Sun Inn Dearham after beating the Sharks : Adam Short, Danny Dryden, Kyah Frazer, Blake Miller & Taylor Manchester

Dearham’s Sun Inn tamed the Sun Inn Sharks as they raced into a 3-0 lead against the Maryport Pool League leaders from Aspatria.

Blake Miller went first and he dispatched Ryan Irving who was making his first appearance of the season for the Sharks after he was unsure of the rules, Miller took them out to leave him with seven balls.

Adam Short doubled the lead when he beat Jobby Dunn who took on a tough black and left it hanging, and it was soon 3-0 as Danny Dryden took advantage of an in-off by Mel Scott.

Luke Kershaw pulled one back after being in total control to give the Sharks hope but the game was settled as a contest in the first double where Scott and Irving were again left with seven balls as Kyah Frazer and Blake Miller made it 4-1 with an exceptional double on the last yellow and perfect position on the black.

The Sharks pulled two back, winning the last doubles through Kershaw and Dunn followed by Kershaw and Irving but the night belonged to Dearham’s Sun Inn.

Elbra Club B moved top on frame difference after beating Sun Inn Ballers after it had been 2-2 at the end of the singles.

Graham Mattinson and Gregg Walling won for Elbra while Gary Miller and Willy Armstrong were the two winners for the Ballers. Elbra then took all the doubles to secure a resounding victory.

Butchers A also moved joint top to make it a three-way tie with only frame difference separating the trio when they beat Maryport Social Club.

Zak Bird was the sole singles win for the Social while Lee Volkaerts, Lee Ferguson and Greg Norman made it 3-1. Ryan Ismay and Liam Holm made it 3-2 but Butchers weren’t to be denied when Greg Norman and Kevin Gartland took the match winning double.

Swan Inn – Gareth Pattinson, Matty Little, Mark Mattocks, Stephen Pattinson & Carl Daley

Ismay and Bird then won the last consolation frame to leave it 4-3 to Butchers A.

Bowling Club kept within three points of the top as they dispatched Butchers B, despite Lee Hodgson beating Paul Kirkbride in the first frame.

Bowling Club then won five on the belt end to secure a 5-2 win. Anthony Brough, Mike McCallig and Ian Stewardson were the singles winners.

Swan had an emphatic 7-0 win at home to Elbra C with Mark Mattocks, Matty Little, Stephen Pattinson and Gareth Pattinson all on fine form and Carl Daley, coming in for the first double, also winning.

Elbra A took on Maryport Rugby B and took a 3-1 lead as Pat Walton, Tony Lambert and Andy Henderson had single successes before John McCracken and Aaron Rowley secured a 4-3 victory.

Maryport Rugby League A completed a miserable night for the three Aspatria sides as they brushed aside Sun Inn Cannons 5-2.

Lewis Fisher and Matty McCartney fired successfully in the singles for the Cannons but the Rugby Club were relentless in the doubles after Ian Ivison and Mark Pattinson had won their singles.

Grasslot Welfare won the final match of the week as they beat neighbours Glasson Rangers 4-3.

Cam Stuart gave Rangers the lead but Welfare hit back with wins for Barry Shearman, Keith Anderson and Trevor Bethwaite before the latter pair took the first double to secure a 4-3 victory.
