A Carlisle road is set to be closed from Tuesday until July so a wall can be repaired.

Contractors need to repair the retaining wall which supports the footpath behind Carlisle Castle.

Due to limited access to the embankment, Dacre Road needs to be closed so contractors can operate equipment safely.

The work will take place from Dacre Road’s junction with Devonshire Walk/Mayor’s Drive, extending in a south‑easterly direction for around 220 metres.

Work is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, May 5, until Friday July 10, subject to weather and site conditions.

The work will be carried out by contractors Kirkaldy and Roe Limited from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The road closure will remain in place for the duration of the works.

Routes for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be kept open at all times. A signed diversion route for vehicles will be in place via the A595, Castle Way, Bridge Street, Church Street and Devonshire Walk.

Access to and from Bitts Park Car Park will be unaffected and maintained throughout the work.
