ROAB A faced off against Ex C in the final of the 2026 Carlisle Snooker Team KO at Spencer Street Social Club.

Sponsored by Woodpeckers Kitchens and Bathrooms, it proved to be a tense and close match, going down to the final frame.

The first frame was a scrappy affair, with the reds scattered all over the table, and some exceptional long potting from Ex C’s David ‘Sarnie’ Sanderson under pressure saw him emerge a 46-27 victor over RAOB’s Tommy Dobson.

The second frame saw emerging World Billiard talent Dave Turley extend Ex C’s lead over local legend Bob Sewell, a 68-32 win seeing the lead extended to 65 points pre-handicap.

RAOB pulled some points back in the third frame, with the fantastic potting of Brian Armstrong seeing off the challenge of Rob McKenzie by 56-43.

The major turning point of the match came on the final black of the fourth frame, with ROAB’s Brian Sloan potting it but unfortunately went in off, giving the excellent Peter Marsden a 49-37 victory.

That established a 29-point lead for the Ex going into the final frame, and after the handicaps were applied, the 14-point swing gave the Ex’s team a boost in confidence.

For the Ex C, former professional pool player Garry Southern has had an exceptional debut season, including making the main singles semi-final and having the HG Young final next Monday to look forward to.

Garry stepped up with the 29 point cushion against RAOB’s TikTok sensation Ste Dobson, with Ste’s pink in the semi-final now approaching 80,000 views on the social media platform.

It was an understandably nervy affair, but both players showed their exceptional skills during the frame, with Garry pulling away in the middle and late stages to win 60-41 and secure the title for the Ex C.
