Penrith cricket club’s head coach Sam Sharp has agreed to extend his contract until the end of the 2029 season.
The 29-year-all rounder took on the role this year and has already made a big impact.
He had joined Penrith after two years at Kendal where he played a major role in Northern League title success.
Previously he had been a key player with Cockermouth in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division and throughout all this time has been an important member of the Cumbria county pace attack.
In announcing the contract extension Penrith said: “The impact Sam has already made to the club is evident for all to see.
“His commitment to coaching, enthusiasm, positivity and the way he conducts himself has impressed players, officials, parents and members alike.
“Sam’s aspirations for cricket and for the club align perfectly with our three-year cricket development plan.
“Wanting to commit to the Head Coach role for a further three years is a massive statement of intent by Sam and the club.
“Sam’s performances on the pitch have given the 1st XI a huge boost, currently leading the League’s wicket takers with 33 at an average of 9.64 and includes four 5 wicket hauls.
“In addition he is third top run scorer with 260 at an average of 43.33 with two half centuries.
“We look forward to continuing to see the positive impact Sam makes at Penrith CC for the next few years.”
