Kendal rider Bradley Perie entered the ninth round of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park last weekend with high hopes.
Local support was in abundance for his home round as he trailed the championship leader by a mere five points.
Qualifying brought the best of the British weather and in mixed conditions Perie managed to secure 14th place on the grid.
In the Saturday sprint race, despite a spirited charge, Perie grasped just fifth place but kept his points.
In glorious sunshine for the Sunday feature race he got off to a good start but ill-fate was in pursuit when his bike’s battery caught fire forcing him to retire from the race while in fifth position.
He brought the bike safely to a halt but hopes of further points were dashed.
This weekend the penultimate round is hosted at Donington Park, Leicestershire.
