Barrow were involved in a late deadline signing to boost their squad for the League Two survival battle ahead.
Experienced centre-back Niall Canavan has joined the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee from Bradford City.
The 6ft 4ins defender has agreed an 18-month deal with the south Cumbrian side.
He brings loads of Football League experience with him as he’s been involved in over 300 senior games during his career.
A former Republic of Ireland under-21 international (capped seven times), Canavan has clocked up 33 games for the Bantams since joining in last January’s transfer window from Plymouth.
He had spent three seasons with Argyle, playing 78 times and scoring five goals after moving from Rochdale where he had played 39 times.
His first club as a senior was Scunthorpe United and in seven years there he made 154 appearances and helped himself to 15 goals.
Canavan has been handed the number 27 shirt at Barrow and is set to link up with his new teammates later this week ahead of Saturday’s home game against Tranmere Rovers.
He won’t be involved tonight when Barrow visit Northampton Town.
