Workington and District Sunday League will hold a special AGM on Thursday, September 8 at Borough Park.
It follows objections by some clubs to the decision by the league committee to make the competition just one division this season.
As a result the season, due to start on Sunday, will be delayed while the clubs consider the way forward.
Highfield resigned earlier this month which prompted the committee to change to a one division format of 12 teams instead of the planed six/seven split into two Divisions.
Aldo being discussed is the possibility of a merger between the Workington and Egremont Sunday Leagues which would have a membership of 20 clubs.
The Workington Sunday League is closing in on 60 years since its formation, which was mainly through the efforts of former county secretary Bob Johnstone and Cumberland Star reporter David Cullimore.
The meeting on September 8 will start at 7pm and officials are looking for a 100 per cent attendance from the 12 member clubs.
