Tough clash ahead for Workington Town against Oldham

Caine Barnes (Ben Challis)

Workington Town will have three out and three back for this Sunday’s League Two clash at Derwent Park against Oldham.

Liam McNicholas, Jack Stephenson and Jordan Burns, who all played in the heavy defeat at Doncaster last week, picked up injuries which rule them out for Sunday.

However on a positive note for coach Anthony Murray he has Caine Barnes, Malik Steele and Joe Kirkup all available again after injury absences.

“We are not going to dwell on the Doncaster defeat because sometimes you have to put your hands up and give credit to the opposition.

“Doncaster have some very good, experienced players and they took advantage of any little thing we got wrong.

“The lads have worked really hard in training this week and are set on putting things right against Oldham.

“It will be a tough one because Oldham also have some good experienced players and they have a good duel registration relationship with Wigan so we can expect a mix of young blood from there line-up.

“But really it’s about ourselves and how we perform rather than the opposition.”
