Former Cockermouth spinner Matthew Siddall is joining Fleetwood for the 2024 season.

The Northern League side have announced today that the Cumbria county bowler would be part of their team next year.

Announcing the signing the club said: “Sids is as good as it gets in club cricket and his record over the last six years proves that.

“He joins us on the back of two brilliant years at Cockermouth CC, where he took 86 wickets at an incredible average of 9.12.

“Having already been on a pre-season tour with us, we know he will fit straight in on and off the pitch.

“Sids is a top class slow left arm bowler and comes with plenty of experience having represented Cumbria, Derbyshire 2s and an England NCCA side this year.

“We wish him every success at FCC and couldn’t be more pleased to have him on board!”

Blackpool-based Siddall announced at the end of the Cumbria League season that he would be leaving the Cockermouth club after two successful years.

“It was just down to the travelling. Nearer my home I would still be there because the club has been great with me and my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing there,” he said.

At Fleetwood Siddall will be linking up with the former Egremont professional Vathsal Govind who had a very successful debut season in the Cumbria League.
