Only two of the scheduled games to kickstart the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland League were played over the weekend.
The eagerly anticipated derby clash between Lowca and Distington A was called off because the pitch was declared unplayable.
But sadly Hensingham A couldn’t get a team to travel to newcomers Askam, while Ellenborough A were also unable to raise enough for the game at Wath Brow A.
The two games that were played so two former members of the League back in action, against established opposition.
Aspatria hosted Kella A and were beaten 40-10 while Flimby entertained Glasson and lost 38-6.
Kells had established a 16-0 lead by half-time against the Hornets and were able to go on and win comfortably.
Stuart Creighton was the Aspatria try scorer while Ben Toothill converted and kicked two penalties. Keenan Foster was man of the match for the Hornets.
For Kells A there were tries for Todd Woods (2), Kieran Halcrow (2), Daniel Grears, Brodie Rutherford, man of the match Casey Chambers and Jamie Jennings. Woods converted four of them.
It was a very similar story at Flimby where Glasson had moved into an 18-0 lead by the break.
Jonny Ostle led the way for Glasson with a hat-trick of tries while also on the score-sheet with touchdowns were Matt Johnston, Scott Burns, John Dollochin, Matt Burns and Connor Wilson. Tyler Beals landed three goals and Dean Jones was their man of the match.
For Flimby Andrew Cartwright got over for the try, which was converted by Daniel Weir. Sam Fearon was their man of the match.
