Norfolk have been set 162 to win on the final day of their NCCA Championship fixture against Cumbria.
Both the hosts and Cumbria were bowled out on the second day after the visiting county had made 411-8 on the opening day.
Resuming at 56-0 Norfolk were bowled-out for 353 in 88.3 overs, and then Cumbria’s second innings did not scale the same heights as they were dismissed at the end of the day for 103 in 35.3 overs.
But with the wicket now conducive to spin, Cumbria will be hoping that first innings hero Nico Watt will be able spin them to a first victory of the season.
Watt and fellow spinners Freddie Fallows and skipper Matty Sempill will be central to Cumbria’s push for a win.
In Norfolk’s first innings Watt took 6-107 from 26 overs while Fallows took the other four at a cost of 89 runs.
All the Norfolk runs were mainly from the top four batsmen with Ben Wilcox (106), Ethan Metcalf (80), Sam Arthurton (65) and Sam King (49) getting them to 330-4.
The last six wickets went down for the addition of just 23 runs.
Cumbria, however, would be disappointed at their response second time round – especially contributions from their top three scorers.
Will Fraine followed his record-breaking 235 with six; Fallows went for a duck after his explosive first knock of 70 and Ed Moulton, 57no first time round was also dismissed without scoring,
Ben Walkden was largely responsible for them reaching 103 with 40. Joe Everett took 5-34 for Norfolk.
It was baking hot throughout the day and similar conditions are forecast for the final day.
