After a successful finish to the Cumberland ARL season with Seaton Rangers their captain Lewis Brown has signed for Whitehaven.
The forward is joining the Ortus Rec club for a second time.
The 27-year-old first joined the club on loan back in 2017 before making the move permanent later that year.
He went on to make 25 appearances scoring one try before leaving in the early stages of the 2019 campaign due to work commitments.
Brown had been with Salford Academy before joining Haven and he then had a short spell with Workington Town.
In recent seasons Brown has been playing his rugby under Haven assistant coach Neil Frazer and has led his side to this season’s Cumberland Cup Final and Carla Premier Division Grand final lifting the trophy on both occasions as captain.
Haven head coach Anthony Murray said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lewis on board.
“He’s had a taste of the professional game before, and to see him go back into the community, reset, rebuild and put together the season he’s just had shows a lot about his character and hunger.
“He’s been outstanding for his community club this year and his performances have been consistently strong.
“He’s coming in with a real drive to have another crack at the professional level and we love that ambition.
“He’s experienced, he’s hungry, and he’s earned this opportunity through hard work and determination.
“We’re excited to see him back in a pro environment and we believe he can make a real impact for us.”
