Cumbria Men’s League fixtures tomorrow are all in the Cumbria Cup which is being run on a group formula until the knock-out stage.
One game has had to be postponed because of an unfit pitch at Hensingham where the A team was going to take on Maryport A. The clubs are hoping to rearrange it for Thursday night.
Another game is off because of an injury crisis at Seaton so the A team trip to Kells A won’t take place.
Aspatria Hornets travel to Flimby for a game that will now kick off at 12.30pm.
That’s because of a shortage of referees which means someone can double up on the day. Flimby know all about that as their opening game with Lowca was called off last week because no-one was available to take charge.
As a result of the time change Aspatria have had to delay their team choice but unavailable is full-back Ellis Holliday who is another of the Cumbrians involved with the England Community Lions Under-19s training.
Glasson Rangers were denied a game on opening day after Distington A dropped out but they will start this week with a tough trip to Wath Brow A.
Chris Broadley, who has joined as a player from Askam and is now part of the coaching group, said: “The lads have been training hard putting somwe work into the areas that needed improving.
“We will take that into what will undoubtedly be a challenge against a good Brow team.
“We need to go there with the right attitude and the performance will take care of itself.
“There are a couple of experienced lads missing in Matthew Burns and Luke Johnson but the return of Owen Beattie to the club is a timely boost for the squad.”
Wath Brow will have a completely new coaching team looking after the squad as the regular trio of Gary Todd, Graeme Mattinson and Gary Clarke are all away. Instead Neil Gregg, Mark Connery and Martin Barwise will pick up the reins.
Cockermouth Titans are at home to Egremont A and coach Liam McAvoy says he is looking forward to seeing how Max Bateson and Freddie Brough go.
“They are both products of the club’s youth system and two promising lads while Dan Woodcock is a very good addition to the squad at scrum-half,” he said.
Egremont A welcome back Connor Williams and Jake Conway after their opening night win over Maryport A.
Lowca were disappointed their first game against Flimby was called off but are raring to go for the follow-up at home to Askam.
After their win at Kells A Askam are resting Tom Hopkins and Rob Cockayne while Roley Stewart, Aaron McIntosh, Jordan Hopkins and Morgan Cubbin return from holidays.
Finn Whitehead and Dan Scott, who start on the bench, will be making their Askam debuts.
Roose Pioneers take on Millom A in the other Cup game.
