Workington Town show only one change from the 21 selected ahead of last week’s game against Dewsbury Rams.
For the trip to Newcastle Thunder, Evan Lawther returns to the squad after injury and he takes the place of Toby Gibson.
Clearly coach Jonty Gorley is looking for his players to atone for last week’s poor show against Dewsbury when they lost 38-22 – scoring all their points in the last 15 minutes when the game was gone.
Newcastle Thunder won at the Fibrus Community Stadium two weeks ago in the 1895 Cup and are a much-changed outfit from recent years when they were fixtures at the bottom of League One.
Town are travelling to the North East with three points inn the bank so far from a draw at Keighley and a home win over Salford. Newcastle have eight points from four wins, but have lost twice.
Town’s Callum Phillips has been named in RL World team of the month in the Championship and was also named man of the match last Sunday for an excellent defensive display in the middle.
A club spokesman said: “Well done Callum, who’s been awesome this year and last. The recognition is reward for working so hard to get back on the field after a very tough period out through injury.”
Newcastle’s stand-off Cody Hunter was also included in the Team of the Month.
