A police officer has been injured in a hit and run incident in Barrow.

Cumbria police was called to the Lesh Lane area of Barrow on Friday May 1, at around 11.20pm after people reported that a motorbike was being ridden dangerously.

The force said officers attended and while there, a motorbike collided with a PC.

The biker did not stop.

The police officer was taken to hospital, where she remains, having suffered a broken arm.

Police said they were continuing efforts to identify the motorcyclist and are encouraging anyone with information on their identity – or any other information which may assist – to come forward.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or doorbell footage which would assist – whether it shows the incident itself or the time leading up to or following the incident.

You can report information to police online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number 305 of 1 May 2026 or call 101.
