Police officers in Whitehaven detained four people because they looked like they were gathered around a cannabis bong.
The officers searched the quartet and did not find any drugs – but did recover a bottle containing several tadpoles.
The officers said it was certainly a first for them.
Copeland police added: “No arrests were made and the suspects were advised to hop along, the tadpoles have been released – ponding further enquires!”
