A big Challenge Cup win for Whitehaven in Doncaster (Ben Challis)

Whitehaven’s big Challenge Cup tie with St Helens is to be played on Saturday, March 26 with a 2pm kick-off.

The club has announced details of the plum tie, confirming that the game will be streamed live on The Sportsman channel.

Haven will be organising online ticket sales and plan to announce more details later in the week.

Since the draw was made Saints fans have been recalling their last trip to the Recreation Ground which was 21 years ago.

Back in 2001 the Saints visited Whitehaven in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup and won the tie 34-22, going on to win the trophy with a 13-6 win over Bradford Bulls in the final.

Saints could include two Cumbrians in the match-day squad, Morgan Knowles, 25, who hails from Barrow and seasoned campaigner Kyle Amor, 34, who was born in the town and played 44 times for Whitehaven.
