Barrow have signed the Arsenal left-back Mazeed Ogungbo for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the Bluebirds after eight years with Arsenal, during which time he signed his first professional contract in 2021.
Ogungbo spent last season on loan at Crawley and remembers playing against Barrow towards the end of the campaign.
He told the club website: “I really like the playing style, the intensity and also the fans and the fanbase was something that really stood out to me when I played there.
“It just feels like a real family environment which is something that’s really important for me and will obviously help everyone perform out on the pitch.”
He went on: “I’m excited to get going, to meet the boys and it’s been a great process in getting to know the gaffer and the way he wants to play so I’m really looking forward to it.
The young defender said he’s a calm character off the pitch but on the pitch you can expect him to be flying up and down the left flank
Ogungbo added: “I’m quite a relaxed person but I’m also a very sociable person and like to speak to people and get to know them, but I just like to be around people and to have good vibes and good energy in the changing room to make sure we’re ready to play.
“As a player, I’d say I’m very progressive and I like to move the ball forward and I’d say I’m quite technical and athletic as well and I like to get crosses in the box and to get shots off and just combine and attack. In defence as well I like to defend with intensity and help the team keep clean sheets.”
He played 23 games on loan at Crawley in the 2022/23 season and scored one goal.
Although an Irish international, capped twice at Under-16’s level and four at Under-19s, he is also eligible to play for Nigeria.
