Glasson Rangers are looking forward to kickstarting their season after a delayed opening month.
They have had two games postponed because of one of the opposition not being able to provide enough players to compete and the other withdrawing from the league.
They did play Wath Brow Hornets A but that was a tough start for them and although well beaten there were enough positives to boost the coaching staff.
This afternoon they entertain Hensingham A in the First Division and Chris Broadley, a member of the coaching group, said: “Numbers at training have been fantastic and we have 22 to pick from for this game.
“Nathan McNicholas is out with a broken thumb but Luke Johnston and Matthew Burns, who missed the Wath Brow game, are back.”
Hensingham have had to promote members of their A team to the senior side because of injuries but they have a conveyor-belt of talent at the club and despite turning-out a young side will sure to be competitive.
Also in Division One Aspatria Hornets entertain Egremont A in a game being played at Bower Park home of the rugby union club.
The Hornets will be without full-back Ellis Holliday who is away training with the England Lions Under-19s squad so Jake Bennett switches positions after a try-scoring return on the wing last week.
Stuart Creighton returns at prop with Guy Reed having his first game of the year in the halves.
Egremont welcome back Lee Rogers in the halves as he plays his first League game and will want to put down a marker.
The third game in Division One sees Maryport A entertain Dalton A with the hosts much stronger than they were last week.
Another member of Maryport’s Under-16s side last season Harry Blamire made his debut last week and retains his place and there are a couple of old heads back to help the youngsters – Craig Foster and Darren Degraff.
Dalton A will travel with good numbers, made-up from last year’s Under-16s and Under-18s squads including last week’s open age debutant Ryu McDermott, Nill Maudsley and former Under-16s captain Elliot Wilkinson plus some experienced campaigners in Billy Harrison, Phil Flannery and Jim Braithwaite.
New signing Farrel O’Kane will make his Dalton debut. He has moved from Barrow Island while Hudson Payne has gone in the opposite direction.
The A team game kicks-off at 12-30pm with the senior match to follow at 2-30pm in a double header for the Maryport club, which is likely to extend into the evening with entertainment provided.
In the Premier Division there are three well-balanced games in prospect, probably headed by Askam v Lowca.
Askam have Rowan Smedley back in at loose forward while Tom Wilkinson will start at full-back. Dan Scott is back on the bench but Alex Bowman, Morgan Cubbin and Taylor Wassell are all unavailable.
Lowca will have seven players missing and coach Lee Allen is looking to his talented Under-18’s to step up again.
Cockermouth Titans are at home to Wath Brow Hornets A and only have 16 players available because of injuries and unavailabilities. It means promotion for five of the club’s former Under-16s squad.
The Hornets have a young squad who have started the season impressively and look as though will be strong contenders for the title come the end of the season.
The third Premier Division game sees Flimby entertain Roose Pioneers, one which might be too close to call.
Roose welcome back Antoni Kudelski, Mikey Light and Ellis Rae who would have all missed last week’s game with Kells A had not the Whitehaven side pulled out of the fixture.
